Caroline Slade is a lyric soprano, and award-winning choral conductor, based in Yorkshire. Solo highlights include Handel's Messiah, Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem, Fauré Requiem, Mendelssohn St Paul, and Oliver Tarney Magnificat. Caroline has also performed in chorus at the BBC Proms for Elgar Dream of Gerontius, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle with the Vienna Philharmonic. She has sung with a number of chamber choirs including Sonority, Exonian Singers, Vigala Singers, and has been a chorister at the cathedrals of Sheffield, Bradford, and Leeds, as well as Reading Minster. In opera, Caroline has performed Susanna Le nozze di Figaro, Ida Die Fledermaus, Carmélite Dialogues des Carmélites, and Chorus Aida, Madama Butterfly, Le nozze di Figaro, Pagliacci. Caroline also has a love of contemporary music and has workshopped roles for new operas including Hera's List and Opera Bingo, both by Eve Harrison. As a conductor and educator, Caroline is known for her inclusive and uplifting attitude towards music-making. She has established and conducted a number of community choirs, and has led community projects for English National Opera and Opera North, as well as leading music groups in dementia care settings and a women's asylum support centre. As a Music Education specialist, Caroline has taught in over a hundred schools and has lectured at the University of Reading and University of Leeds. She has also been a guest tutor at Trinity Laban's Junior Programme, and at Morley College. Caroline's recent highlights include conducting Mahogany Opera's Snappy Operas Festival in Humberside, as well as a number of performances in her role as Choral Director at Sheffield Cathedral. In addition to her performance work, Caroline has worked in arts management and programming, including roles with Music in the Round, and Hazard Chase Ltd.
